The Kentucky HeadHunters have sold more than 6 million albums! Grammy award WINNER for “Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group” Country Music Association award WINNER for “Vocal Group of the Year” (2 times), “Album of The Year” (Pickin’ On Nashville) and Album of the Year (Production). Academy of Country Music Award WINNER for “Top New Vocal Duo or Group” Thirty-six years is a long time for a band to survive in today’s cutthroat music jungle. What’s the secret? Richard and Fred Young, along with cousin, Greg Martin and long time friend Doug Phelps, never set out to play music for a living. They were born to be together and they live to play music. Some of the Kentucky Headhunters have sold millions of albums, however, one thing remains the same…they are one of a kind, originals.

"The mournful moan of a pedal steel guitar carries on the thick night air billowing out of Barb Hollow, off of Rocky Branch Road near Blount County’s Walland foothills, muted only by the patter of recently fallen raindrops from the surrounding trees. Up a pitted gravel drive, goats trot toward the sound of approaching cars. Inside Gordy Gilbertson’s workshop, Brock Henderson sits at the pedal steel methodically working his way down the frets while his bandmates in The Drunk Uncles crack open fresh beers, debate the merits of an in-the-works new song and trade good-natured insults. A pool table sits nearby, covered with a film of sawdust blown in lazy circles by a couple of industrial fans that stir the air. A mutt the size of a hog is sprawled out on the cool concrete floor, oblivious to the conversation or the music; cut lengths of lumber are stacked into piles and stuffed into empty horse feed bags; a chicken named Bode struts in through the back door and cocks an eye at the five men who, after a few minutes, launch into a new tune.
It’s a scene that seems tailor-made for a country song by the Uncles — all that’s missing is the girl, although Sarah Pirkle, wife of Uncle Jeff Barbra, briefly puts in an appearance. If nothing else, it’s proof that the Uncles aren’t just singing country music — they’re living it. Whether it’s an obscure cover by George Jones or Vern Gosdin or an original written by Barbra and/or Uncle Mike McGill (the band’s songwriting team), the Uncles pour their hearts into every note. They do it for love of the song. Not for money or fame (or even infamy, although a small measure of that has been achieved locally) — but for the song...” - Steve Wildsmith of The Maryville Daily Times

The Blues are a religion and Brian "Husky" Burnette sho nuff preaches it. You can feel the testimony as he blends Mississippi Delta guitar licks with Rock n Roll, Electric Blues and Attitude. His music is gritty, soulful, southern, deep-fried, low-down and dirty. Husky, following in the family footsteps of Rockabilly Kings Johnny Burnette and Billy Burnette, has written and toured with several national artists over the years. Two of which that stand out are lead guitar for legendary singer/songwriter Roger Alan Wade and the supporting act on tour for Hank Williams III. He has shared the stage with many others such as Guy Clark, T-Model Ford, Scott H. Biram, Emmylou Harris, Billy Joe Shaver and Th' Legendary Shack Shakers. In 2005, after leaving his road band, Husky Burnette set out to do his own thing, as a solo artist with a drummer behind him. He hit the road and toured the United States, releasing the EP 'Snake Oil Salvation' in 2007. In 2009, Husky won the FYI Awards 'Best Blues Band' award in Tennessee.
Husky continues to tour nationally with drummer Burma Shave backing him up to complete the two-man-band, playing up to 150 shows a year. 2010 sees the release of a brand new full length entitled, 'Done Got Bad (and Bloody)', as well as a live album, 'Givin' It Hell...Live!'. Keep an eye out folks, he's bringin' this brand of Dirty Hillbilly Blues Religion to the masses.
What: Black Oak Arkansas with special guest Joecephus & The George Jonestown Massacre

Black Oak Arkansas dates back to the mid-'60s, when a group of young, long-haired misfits headed by Jim Mangrum, unable to find work, turned to rock & roll. However, the group was unable to purchase equipment and ended up being arrested for grand larceny after stealing items from the local school in order to get money. They were nearly run out of town and went to live in the nearby hills, locating and borrowing equipment where they could. The band moved to New Orleans in 1969 and called itself Knowbody Else, with a lineup of vocalist Mangrum; guitarists Ricky "Ricochet" Reynolds, Stanley "Goober" Knight, and Harvey "Burley" Jett; bassist Pat Daugherty; and drummer Wayne Evans. Knowbody Else recorded a self-titled album for Stax, which went nowhere; rethinking their approach, the band became interested in psychedelia and Eastern spirituality, which they filtered through their Southern Baptist upbringing. Changing their name to Black Oak Arkansas, the band secured a deal with Atlantic after several trips to Los Angeles and released its self-titled debut in 1971. It was 1973's Raunch 'N' Roll Live that established the group as a commercial force. That year, High on the Hog became their most commercially successful album, reaching number 52 on the charts. It was buoyed by the Top 30 cover version of "Jim Dandy to the Rescue," which featured female vocalist Ruby Starr trading innuendoes with Jim "Dandy" Mangrum.
The current lineup consists of original singer and wildman Jim Dandy Mangrum on vocals, original member Rickie Lee Reynolds on guitar, George Hughen (ex-Greyghost) on bass, Johnnie Bolin (former Tommy Bolin Band)on drums, and Hal McCormack on lead guitar. (Hal has been a member of Tora Tora, Deep South, Uprisin, Survivor (with Jimi Jamison), and other groups.)

The Marshall Tucker Band got its start in Spartanburg, S.C. when Gray teamed up with Tommy Caldwell and Toy Caldwell, Paul T. Riddle, George McCorkle and Jerry Eubanks, borrowing the name "Marshall Tucker" from a piano tuner whose name was found on a key ring in their old rehearsal space. In 1972, they signed with Capricorn Records, the same label that guided The Allman Brothers Band, Wet Willie, and others to national fame. The MTB opened shows for The Allman Brothers in 1973, and the following year, they began to headline their own shows across America due to the platinum-plus sales of their debut album.
In years to come, The Marshall Tucker Band would wow critics and influence major country acts like Alabama, The Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, and Travis Tritt with its definitive blend of rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, country, and gospel. Now, thanks to the expanding scope of today's music, a new generation of fans is learning what the rest of their fans have known for so long- that good music knows no boundaries. "As we've become older," Gray grins, eyes twinkling, "our Southern heritage seems to come out even more. But no matter how old we get, we can still rock your socks off.

What: Mic Harrison & The High Score
When: October 23, 2010 - 8pm
Price:$10
Harrison's new album "On The Right Side of The Grass" is about the kind of characters who know that any day that you can look forward to a soft bed rather than a dirt nap is a blessing. When Harrison sings about having nothing but "a pocket full of sawdust" the former sawmill employee knows exactly what he's singing about. The subject of "He Gets High" is that guy everyone has worked with at least once: the man who "never missed a day of work" and never spent a day completely sober either -- "he gets high, but he gets by."
Were the payoffs of pure fun not so rewarding, Mic Harrison and The High Score might not be one of the hardest working Americana acts on the road. For every winter spent thawing the van windshield with a handheld hair dryer just one or two electrons away from blowing the van's fuses, for every plywood stage that collapsed during a show, for every wrong turn or lost piece of equipment, there is a show where both the band and audience feel that musical glow and for a couple of hours.
